Did you know that polymer clay is waterproof? Just like any plastic, you can wash polymer clay creations with water. To clean pieces, gently hand-wash them with soap and water. Avoid the dishwasher, though, as the heat can damage your creations.

Can baked polymer clay get wet?

Is polymer clay waterproof? Yes, once baked, you can seal your project with our glazes to make them waterproof. We do not recommend making dishes or utensils that you plan to drink from, eat off of or serve food even if they are sealed with the glazes.

What happens if you dont bake polymer clay?

Yes, polymer clay can burn if you do not bake it according to package instructions. Just like anything you would bake in the oven, if you bake clay too hot for too long, it will burn. That is not the ideal outcome for your beautiful creations. However, polymer clay does not burn easily.

Can you use Mod Podge to seal polymer clay?

The short answer is yes. You can seal Polymer Clay with Mod Podge but Polymer Clay on its own is already robust enough once it is cured, that you don´t have to seal it at all. So sealing it with Mod Podge only makes sense if you want, for example, a glitter finish, that Mod Podge Sparkle can provide.

How do you keep polymer clay smooth?

It must always be kept away from children and pets. To use the acetone, dip the cotton bud in the liquid so that it’s moist (but not dripping), then gently wipe it over the parts of the baked clay that you want to smooth. Don’t press down on the clay, or attempt to vigorously rub the fingerprints out.

How do you keep polymer clay flat when baking?

Baking surfaces include metal plans, glass, ceramic tiles, index cards & batting. To prevent brown spots from oven spikes, tent your work with aluminum foil pans or an index card. To avoid flat spots on beads, bake them on quilt batting or a bead baking rack. You CAN bake your polymer clay more than once!
